■Development of strong lining structure by the utilization of titanium
The durability of concrete structure as marine installations and facilities of water and sewage works is gradually weakened by erosion behaviour. It has, thus, long been desired that lining technology that protects the surface is improved.
The problem can be solved if titanium is firmly adhered on the surface since it has the feature of strong corrosion resistant. Welding technique is the key issue here. Usual butt welding is not strong enough to prevent water from penetrating from the joint, and therefore concrete would become eroded at some stage.
In this condition, we have developed the unique lining structure that is doubly welded and enables high-intensity in conjunction with Taisei Corporation.
